Moneybird integration for direct debits

Collecting payments without an invoice throws your bookkeeping off. With RCUR's Moneybird integration every direct debit has an invoice in Moneybird. This page explains what the integration does, who it's useful for and what you need.

If you collect payments from dozens or hundreds of customers each month, you notice quickly: the collecting runs by itself, the administration doesn't. Every direct debit belongs in your books with an invoice. Do that by hand and you lose hours every month, and mistakes creep in.

What the integration does

RCUR connects to Moneybird and takes over the administrative work around a direct debit:

  • Contacts: your customer shows up as a contact in Moneybird, so you don't retype anything.
  • Invoices: for a collection RCUR creates the sales invoice in Moneybird and sends it.
  • Payments: as soon as the payment comes in, it's registered on the invoice.
  • Refunds: on a refund a credit invoice can be created.

Your bookkeeping stays in line with what was actually debited. The invoice is created in Moneybird, where the rest of your administration already lives. RCUR itself isn't an accounting package.

What you can set up

The invoice doesn't have to look like a standard one. In RCUR you decide, among other things:

  • which Moneybird workflow and document style are used;
  • which ledger account and VAT rate belong to a product;
  • whether the invoice line for a subscription shows the period you're invoicing;
  • whether the description is added as a reference on the invoice.

Who it's useful for

The integration pays off once you collect regularly:

  • Subscriptions with fixed amounts, where the same invoice returns every month.
  • Many customers per month, where invoicing by hand has become a fixed chore.
  • Accountants and bookkeeping firms who want their client's figures to match the bank.

If you only collect a few times a year, invoicing by hand is often quicker than setting up an integration.

Other accounting packages

If you don't use Moneybird, there are integrations with Exact Online, WeFact, e-Boekhouden, HostFact and Teamleader. If your package isn't listed, you can still exchange data through the public API or Zapier.

What you need

The invoicing integrations are part of the Professional plan (€35 a month). It also includes the customer portal, discount codes, custom fields, Zapier and API access. You pay no per-transaction fees and no percentage of your revenue.

For the collection itself you use your own Mollie account. How that works together is on the page about automatic direct debit through Mollie. An overview of what to look for when choosing a solution is under direct debit software.

You can try it free for 7 days, no credit card needed.

Frequently asked questions

What does RCUR's Moneybird integration do?

RCUR creates a contact for your customer in Moneybird, creates the invoice, sends it and registers the payment on it once it comes in. Your bookkeeping therefore matches what was actually collected.

Which plan includes the Moneybird integration?

The invoicing integrations are part of the Professional plan (€35 a month). Besides Moneybird it includes Exact Online, WeFact, e-Boekhouden, HostFact and Teamleader.

Does RCUR create the invoices itself?

The invoice is created in Moneybird, not in RCUR. RCUR isn't an accounting package: it passes the data on, so your administration stays in one place.

Can I decide what the invoice looks like?

Yes. In RCUR you choose which Moneybird workflow and document style are used, and you can set a ledger account and VAT rate per product. For subscriptions the invoice line can show the period being invoiced.

What happens on a refund?

On a refund a credit invoice can be created, so your bookkeeping stays correct then too.

What if my accounting package isn't listed?

Besides Moneybird there are integrations with Exact Online, WeFact, e-Boekhouden, HostFact and Teamleader. For everything else there's a public API and a Zapier integration.
