Price
This is the clearest difference, and it cuts both ways.
Abboflow has one plan at € 19 per month with unlimited subscriptions and packages. Simple: you know what you pay and you do not have to think about which level you need.
RCUR has four plans. Starter is € 10, Advanced € 15, Expert € 24 and Professional € 35. If you only want subscriptions and payment links, you are at € 10. If you want automatic follow-ups, that is Expert (€ 24). Accounting integrations and API access are in Professional (€ 35).
In practice: with RCUR you pay for what you need, with Abboflow you pay one rate for the whole. If you only need subscriptions and payment links, you are at little more than half with RCUR. If you want automatic follow-ups, € 19 versus € 24 favours Abboflow.
The Professional plan at € 35 falls outside that comparison. It includes accounting integrations, Zapier, WooCommerce and API access, and Abboflow does not offer those features. At that level you are no longer comparing prices but different products: if you need those integrations, there is no Abboflow plan that does it, regardless of what it costs.
Neither charges a fee per transaction or a percentage of your revenue. That is a real advantage of both over international subscription platforms, which often do charge a percentage of your revenue. With both, Mollie's ordinary transaction fees come on top.
Where Abboflow is stronger
To be fair: on two points, Abboflow has something RCUR does not offer in the same way.
Digital contracts. Abboflow puts contract management at the centre of their product. If you work with contracts that have a fixed term, notice periods and renewals you want to record administratively, that connects directly.
Reusable packages. A fixed service package that you deploy again for multiple customers is a first-class concept for them.
One rate. If you already know you need their full feature set, one price is simpler than working out which RCUR plan suits you. And at the level of automatic follow-ups, € 19 is simply cheaper than the € 24 you pay at RCUR.
Longer trial period. 14 days versus 7 gives more room to experience a full collection run.
Where RCUR is stronger
Invoicing and accounting. RCUR integrates with Moneybird, Exact Online, WeFact, e-Boekhouden, HostFact and Teamleader, so that with every collection run the matching invoice ends up in your accounting automatically. Abboflow states on its own site that it does not create invoices and is not accounting software. If you send an invoice with every debit, that is the difference between an integration and manual work.
Automatic follow-up of failed debits. A failed SEPA debit is automatically retried, or the customer gets a payment link to pay after all, with email texts you set up yourself. This is the scenario that occurs most often and costs the most money if you do it by hand.
More advanced customer management. In RCUR you record more per customer than a name and an email address: also address details, notes and labels with which you can segment your customer base. That only starts to count once your base grows and you want to be able to find who takes what and what was agreed earlier.
Automation around the debit. Besides the follow-up, there are workflows, email templates, reminders on open payment links and bulk price changes. For everything outside that there is a Zapier integration, a WooCommerce integration and a public API. Abboflow mainly automates the debit itself: when a contract is signed, the authorisation is given and the recurring payments run through Mollie.
Payment links as a separate instrument. Not every transaction is a subscription. With payment links you capture one-off payments, orders and open amounts, with your own logo and colours on the payment screen.
Subscription lines. Multiple amounts within one subscription, for example a fixed monthly price plus a variable usage component, with one debit and one invoice. See also managing Mollie subscriptions.
Bulk price changes. Apply an annual indexation across your entire customer base in a single action.
Cheap entry. € 10 per month if you only need subscriptions and payment links.
What they both do
To keep it honest: the basics are in order with both. Direct debit via Mollie, an unlimited number of subscriptions, customer management, a fixed monthly rate with no revenue-dependent costs, and a Dutch supplier that knows SEPA practice.
For most businesses, the difference is therefore not in "can it or can't it", but in which part of your work takes the most time.
Which suits you
Choose Abboflow if contracts with terms and notice periods are central to your service, if you work with reusable service packages, or if their feature set covers what you need and you would rather pay one rate of € 19 than pick a plan.
Choose RCUR if you want invoicing to run along automatically with your accounting, if following up failed payments is costing you time now, if you need workflows and integrations to automate the work around it, if you want to record more about your customers than name and email, if you also process one-off payment links and orders alongside subscriptions, or if you want to start small at € 10 per month.
In doubt? You can try both for free and in both cases you connect your own Mollie account. One real collection run in a trial period says more than any comparison table, this one included.
Frequently asked questions
What is the main difference between RCUR and Abboflow?
The pricing structure, and what each is strong in. Abboflow has a single plan at € 19 per month with everything included. RCUR has four plans from € 10 to € 35, with accounting integrations and API access in the highest plan. Abboflow emphasises digital contracts and reusable packages; RCUR emphasises payment links, following up failed debits and integrations with your accounting.
Do they both charge a fee per transaction?
No. Neither charges a fee per transaction or a percentage of your revenue. With both, you pay Mollie's ordinary transaction fees on top.
Which is cheaper?
That depends on what you need. Getting started is cheaper with RCUR: € 10 versus € 19. If you need automatic follow-ups, Abboflow at € 19 is better value than RCUR's Expert plan at € 24. RCUR's € 35 plan cannot be compared with € 19, because it includes accounting integrations, Zapier and API access that Abboflow does not offer.
Do they both work with Mollie?
Yes, both collect through Mollie. RCUR is a Mollie Gold Partner and connects to your own Mollie account, so payouts arrive in your own account.
Can I link my accounting?
RCUR integrates with Moneybird, Exact Online, WeFact, e-Boekhouden, HostFact and Teamleader, plus Zapier, WooCommerce and a public API. Check Abboflow's own site for which integrations they now offer.
Can I try both for free?
Yes. Abboflow offers 14 days, RCUR 7 days with no credit card. Because in both cases you connect your Mollie account, you can properly test within a trial period how a real collection run goes.
Does Abboflow create invoices?
According to their own site, no: they state that they do not create invoices and are not accounting software. RCUR does not create invoices itself either, but integrates with Moneybird, Exact Online, WeFact, e-Boekhouden, HostFact and Teamleader, so the invoice is created automatically in your own accounting package with every collection run.
